Conor Martin Kilkenny`s future star?

Kilkenny have always been a renowned hurling county. The county has produced hurling greats such as Henry Shefflin, Tommy Walsh and JJ Delaney. But after they retired there was concern that the Kilkenny talent pool was draining,while other counties became stronger. With like likes of Tipperary,Galway and Limerick experiencing a hurling resurgence.

Thank fully for Kilkenny they have young players who have showed promise already for the county. Conor Martin is fast becoming a player who will give Kilkenny fans something to be excited for the future.

Conor has showed promise on the forward line for the cats u21 squad as well as putting in impressive performances for his club Emeralds.

Conor Martin has also gained a reputation as a hard-working forward, and  has the ability to find the target when it matters. He is also talented at bringing teammates who are better placed on the field into the play in the hope they can get a score.

So far Conor has only one trophy during his career, he won the Fitzgibbon cup in 2015 with his college team The University of Limerick.

In the quarter-final victory over University College Dublin , he scored four points, including three from play, as The University of Limerick advanced to the semi-finals.

Conor also added a point in the derby victory over Limerick IT and while he was held scoreless in an thrilling first final encounter against Waterford IT. But made amends for not scoring by scoring in the replay.

He notched a point in the dramatic Leinster U21 quarter-final victory over Dublin before hitting 0-5 against Carlow.His last contribution in this years Leinster U21 championship was a hat trick of points as Kilkenny were well beaten 4-17 to 1-9 in The Leinster U21 Hurling Championship Final.

There is no doubt Kilkenny senior panel will use this man`s talent in the near future due to his dedication to the cause and his ability to get points.As Kilkenny aim to remain a dominant force in hurling by unleashing the new young talent they have in their ranks.
